Do you have a restaurant name?
My first name is extremely difficult for most people to both spell and pronounce. Even if I slowly spell it letter by letter, it still gets misspelled. And drives me up a wall. My nickname is easy to say but it throws people off more often than not too (though I really do not understand why...what's so difficult about KK?!).
To avoid this frustration and to streamline things, when I go to put my name in for a table at a restaurant or for my cup at Starbucks, I always use my restaurant name.
So friends, in restaurants coast to coast, my name is always Kate.
It's easy to spell, easy to pronounce, easy to remember (key when using a fake name), fits my personality and most importantly, it fits easily on the side of a Starbucks cup.
Some friends think I'm completely practical and others think I'm nuts. And I admit it does sound a bit like an episode of Friends or Seinfeld. But it just works for me.
Do you ever use a restaurant name? If so, what and why? Do you think I've lost my last marble? It's OK...you can tell me...I know I'm cray cray sometimes. It still won't stop me from telling my barista my name is Kate, though.
