But At Least I Made My Bed

I'm so sorry but I am worn the heck out!  Recruitment ended yesterday early evening.  I was doing Pref/Bid stuff for more than seven looong hours.  The day was made longer and headache-ier by the fact that I turned my alarm off somehow so I woke up 25 minutes before I had to be at the chapter house.  In that time I showered, dressed, blow dried and styled my hair, make-up that included my rarely done eyes, found my badge that of course I couldn't locate with time ticking away, made my bed, cleaned my glasses, fed and walked the dog enough to get her to tinkle, grabbed a Diet Coke and the plate of muffins I made the night before and flew up the hill to my kiddos.  I was only about 6 minutes late.  I doubt I could repeat that feat if my life depended on it.  I am such a slow mover in the mornings that it normally takes me that much time to move from my bedroom to the kitchen to give the dog her breakfast.

But notice I didn't mention anything about my own breakfast.  Yeah, something had to get cut and apparently I find it more important to make a bed that I will not see for 8 hours than I do to feed my own starving body.  I'm all kinds of logical like that.

So I got there and worked my booty off- though it was totally fun so no complaints.  I got to write names in frosting on plates.  Call me crazy, but that's just a happy way to start a Sunday.  I totally wish I could be a 21 year old sorority girl forever!  I had a ball.  But again, no eating and no drinking happening because I was busy moving and shakin'.

And then the crash happened.  I made it through most of bid matching but at the end when stuff was taking place that had nothing to do with my chapter, I was bored.  And my body stopped it's "go" mode.  And noticed that it had not been fed in 22 hours.  And had only one Diet Coke- no water even- in that amount of time too.  Oh my word, the headache hit me right then and there.  Once I get to that point, there is really no making things better until sleep is found.  But I had to eat something first if I wanted it to eventually disappear.  And still had to walk the dog and send out a bazillion sorority related emails.  And I am having allergy issues.

So Monday afternoon I will either feel worlds better.  Or be sick.  I'm hoping for option A but betting on option B.  That's just how my body works. It holds out and then breaks down.  And I never learn.

Recruitment did go terrific though.  My girls ROCKED!  I could not be more braggy or proud of their hard work and attention to detail.  But as I said to our president today, momma needs a nap!  Crossing my fingers for a nice quiet week.  Famous last words...

In the mean time, while I find a more exciting post rattling around this old lady sorority girl noggin', here are some linky-loos to amuse you...

And this last one has been a favorite of mine to peek at for many years now.  The price tag can really only just make you smile.  And ponder...what the heck?!  It sure is beautiful though.

Oh how I miss those days! My sorority just went through recruitment, and I was sick that I couldn't be there! I just love the thrill of “fighting” for all those new girls!

You get some sleep and feel better today!

The call just went out for one of the chapters that I advise for asking for Alumna volunteers to assist with recruitment. I have helped out for the past couple of years but am finding it difficult to find the energy this year. Good for you for staying involved, I'm sure they appreciate it very much.

Sometimes it's not "At least I made my bed", it's more "At best I made my bed". I think today will be one of those days for me.

Congrats! I know what a looooong process bidmatching can be (no matter what method is being used) so congrats on surviving!

And I make my bed every single day. No matter what. I feel like I can't function right during the day if I know I have an unmade bed back at home :)

Good grief! I can remember the days when I used to go like that. Maybe I still could, if I tried, but Lord knows I haven't gotten that much done that fast in quite a while. I'm hoping you have Option A instead of B today. Take care.
