Tag, I'm It. Times Two!

I am not great at doing blog tags.  I always intend to do them.  And am always flattered that folks think of me.  But I forget.

Not this time.  Maybe because I was tagged twice in one day.  Sweet Wendy and Hannah tagged me and I am going to combine efforts to answer both of their questions.

First, here are the rules...

1. You must post the rules.

2. Post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.

3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.

4.Tag eleven people and link them on your post

5. Let them know you've tagged them!

Next up, Wendy's questions....

1) What was your favorite first date?

I thought and thought about this and I honestly do not have an answer for you.  I've had blah first dates, bad first dates, strange first dates and first dates I can't really remember.  But I can't remember a first date that left me skipping away.  I never realized that before-ha.  In general, I like first/early dates that involve something to do.  Like eat or look at an exhibit or walk around.  Takes the pressure off and gives you something to talk about other than your resume.

2) If you could have dinner with any famous/historical figure, (past or present) who would it be?

Jesus.  I'd ask him what he really wanted us to do with his life's work, if we are misunderstanding or missing altogether parts of the story, if he really literally turned water into wine, what he really thinks of the Apostles, what happened after the Bible stories end, did he ever get married, if he would please explain the Holy Spirit to me, if he cares one skinny bit about politics, if he is annoyed with the rampant use of The Good Book as a WMD and excuse for acting heartless, if saints and angels really exist (I doubt it), what's his favorite food (he is aware of ever single food ever made...I'd love to know what he thinks is truly amazing), if he let's dogs into Heaven (please say yes!), and if the Shroud of Turin is really his (I'm guessing no but I'm still curious)?

If I could expand the dinner party, I'd also invite Hillary Clinton (love love love her- plus she would be a great witness that I actually met and talked to Jesus), Bestie (she's not famous but I couldn't have a dinner party with Jesus and not invite her), Anderson Cooper (he'd think of interesting questions to ask Jesus and he's also pretty to look at) and Josh Groban (so he could sing to me us.  A dinner party with Jesus surely deserves good music).

3) What is your favorite book and why?

I don't really have a favorite.  I love Harry Potter books.  YA is my favorite to be honest.  I could read Bridge to Terabithia every week and not tire of it.  But I don't have one book that I would label my absolute favorite.

4) What kind of car do you drive?

For privacy reasons and because I've had a few creepy moments, I'm not going to answer this one.  I will say that if I could buy a new car today, I'd love it to be electric.  I think they are just so cool.

5) What was your first job?

Working for my mother doing general office work and then babysitting (at the age of 11!  I would never let someone that young even watch my dog.  I cannot believe anyone trusted me with their kids).

6) What was your major in college?

Psychology and English.  If I could go back and do it all again, I would take a gap year after high school and then major in English and musical theater.  If only I knew then what I knew now...  Do what makes you smile from your toes to your nose and the rest will fall into place.

7) Do you have a favorite style icon, if so who is it?

Not really.  I love the way a lot of people dress but I can't say I've ever flipped to a magazine page to find a style reference to use on myself.

8) What cosmetic can you not live without?

Concealer.  No question about it.  I DO NOT leave the house without wearing concealer.  And chap stick.  Perhaps I should consider finding a style icon- ha!

9) Who is your favorite designer?

I know she is no longer designing but hands down, Lilly Pulitzer.  Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera are close behind.

10) Coke or Pepsi?

Coke.  And only Coke.  Preferably Diet and over lots of ice with a straw.

11) How have you cultivated followers for your blog?

Heck if I know!  I am forever amazed that anyone reads this blog.  And some days they don't.  Some weeks I lose more followers than I gain.  I guess I don't really think of this blog in terms of "followers" and such.  I think of the preppy blog world as sort of a party.  And if I want to be invited to the next party, I better make sure I start talking to the guests and find common ground.  Actually...I think I have found yet another way that my big girl life is like my sorority life.  So anyway, I make sure I read other blogs and leave comments when I can think of something to say.  I love finding new blogs and "meeting" new sweet friends.  I really just don't think too much about the rest.

And Hannah's questions...

1. Who is your celebrity crush?

Joshua Jackson.  Oh Pacey!
2. What is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own?

My pearl necklace with a silver monogram in the center that my dad gave me a few years ago for Christmas.  I wear it about four days a week.

3. What are y'alls pet peeves?

Facebook posts that use any of the following : wit, u, y, k, wanna, gonna, goin, puttin, etc...  It doesn't take that much more time to just spell out with instead of wit or going instead of goin.

Also, cell phone usage in a restaurant.  Or if we are talking in person and you dare to pick up the phone to chit chat (I understand if it's an important call but to chit chat....oh heck no that is just so rude).

4. What is your favorite article of clothing?

For comfort inside my house: Pajama pants and my Butler sweatshirt.  For leaving the house in the winter: green Vineyard Vines blazer (I can wear a blazer with just about anything).  For leaving the house in the summer: my Lilly Pulitzer patch print maxi dress because it makes me feel pretty (I don't think it actually makes me look pretty but it makes me feel pretty and that's really all I care about).

5. What was the last movie you watched?

War Horse.  I went with my Junior League girls and LOVED it.  Cried big buckets but it was surprisingly excellent.

6. Who is your favorite book character?

Harry Potter.

7. What is your favorite holiday?

4th of July and Halloween.

8. What is your biggest fear?

Being alone forever.

9. Where is your favorite place to shop?

Target and Lilly Pulitzer.  Both make me happy.  Though Target sells giant, refillable fountain Diet Cokes so it might have the edge on LP.

10. What is your favorite city?

Washington DC.

11. What are your top 5 favorite TV shows?

Downton Abbey, West Wing (you didn't say it needs to currently be on the air), Glee, Friends and Oprah's Master Class.

This is getting long so I will promise to do the 11 random facts another day.  I tag anyone who wants to participate.  Just use the above great questions.

Now I know we were separated at birth! Your comment about not leaving the house without concealer is how I always answer if asked that question!

I loved seeing you talk about music at the dinner, "A dinner party with Jesus surely deserves good music" makes perfect sense.

Like you, I am not so wonderful with blog tags, I am actually an abject failure. Good for you on getting them done at all!

Sending you a smile Miss PPC,
