Downton Abbey Addiction

So, I watch a lot of PBS.  Especially on Sundays.  I don't think there is a single Masterpiece Classics show I've not seen.  All the Jane Austin flicks are awesome.  Love the ladies of Cranford.  And I am really excited about Great Expectations this coming April.  But far and away my favorite show is Downton Abbey.

The funny thing is that I had NO idea any of my friends were into it too.

Until a week or two ago when I noticed a few tweets about it.  What?  Other people watch PBS on Sunday nights too?  Stop it!  I had no idea.

Y'all, not only does the new season excite me, but sharing it with friends does too.  Woo hoo!

OMG and if you have not been clued in yet, you simply much watch Downton Abbey on PBS on Sunday nights!!  It's complicated and romantic and full of intrigue and dramatic and historical.  Oh, Potter fans, McGonagall is in it (she's in a bunch of stuff on PBS (by way of BBC) actually).  The entire cast is outstanding and the writing is phenomenal.  Don't even get me started on the costumes and scenery... simply stunning.  It's everything great that you can't manage to find on TV these days.

So now that the cat's out of the bag, who else is an avid fan of Downton Abbey (or other Masterpiece Classics)?

Huge huge fan. Watched Sunday's episode last night. The only thing I can't remember is why can't Mary inherit anything? Was it just because she is a girl? Wasn't there something about her marrying rich?

It's a great addiction to have! I'll admit that I was impatient and tracked down British episodes since PBS is a little behind in airing them. I hope they'll show the Christmas special too as that almost makes up for some of the bad parts of season two.

Love Downton Abbey. I am a Masterpiece Theatre junkie.
@MCW - It was common back in the old days to have entails. Land and money was passed from male to the nearest male heir. Sometimes the surviving females were left with an extremely small allowance. That is why it is extremely important for the daughters to be married off to someone with a little bit of money.

I have not heard of it but I will have to check it out. I was watching a couple shows on there tonight. I love Egypt stuff and then Billy the Kid.

I jumped on board when I caught an episode before the DA marathon and the beginning of the season 2.
I love it and I'm totally hooked!

ADORE the show. I started watching it last year on a whim and instantly became hooked. Was so glad when it returned this year.

I keep hearing about this show! I think it's time to rent the first season and see what I think! I'm convinced. I'm big on BBC, so I don't know what my hold out is.
