Skinny Peep

I knew I forgot to tell you something earlier. Peeps. I've said it many times before how much I love Peeps. Mmmm! Only made better if you open the package and let the little lovelies sit to get stale for a day or two. So good!

Well today I quickly ran into Wally World and on my way out spotted sugar free Peeps. Being the wanna-be-healthy-chic that I am, I purchased a tiny package of three. I eagerly opened them up when I walked in the door and took a bite. And I can honestly say that if you are craving a little Peep goodness, go for the real thing. The consistency was so completely different- they were dense and chewy. The flavor was all wrong. And the usually crunchy yellow sugar coating was um...none of the above. They are bigger too. Peep wanna-be's is what they are. Diet coke, no problem. Eat more veggies and work out, done and done. But don't mess with perfection. It's original Peeps or bust around the Crocodile household!

I love Peeps! Did you know they have a "fan club"? It's true, and I have a membership card to prove it. I also got a super cute baseball cap, but Dave wore it out.

um, slightly stale-ish Peeps are AMAZING! I was never a huge fan around Easter- I always went right for the chocolate goods- but my brother, the antithesis of a chocolate-lover always received a basket FULL of Peeps! He'd always take FOR-EV-ER to eat them.. which meant lots of stale-ish Peeps for me! Worked out perfectly..

good to know that the real deal is where it's at. if they're a once a year indulgence- gotta do the real thing and then just push yourself a little harder at the gym!

I found you on the pink owl & first I have to tell you how cute your blog page is! :) Secondly, you are correct about peeps! My daughter and I love them and of course when she found these the other day at Walmart she was very excited! She's 10 and trying to watch her weight...crazy I know! But they don't taste the same! I'm with you, stick with the original and cut back somewhere else! :)

Ew, I can't imagine a sugar free Peep being much of anything, since they're basically made out of sugar, right? I was likewise disappointed with sugar free Jelly Bellies. Yuck.

This is funny. I never knew stale peeps were yummy. I just threw some away the other day that were left open and hard as rocks. Every year I stock up after Easter, like when they're $.25 and we use them all summer long for our campfire roasts....they're yummy in smores too!

My favorite ones this time of year are the egg shaped ones that are "vanilla creme" flavored - haven't seen them yet this year, but the colors of the regular peeps are so fun this season!

Someone else 'cooks' their Peeps the same way I do? Love it! Once, during a very weak moment, I tried to call the company during the summer to see if I could order a case of Peeps. They denied my request.
