Broken Wagon

So I totally fell of the workout wagon this weekend. Not only that but I went to a friend's birthday party on Saturday and ate all sorts of things one should not eat if she is trying to not gain lots of weight. Then Sunday came and the eat-all-sorts-of-crappy-for-me-food festival continued. And while I ate healthy (which is actually my normal and why I won't limit my food- I regularly eat rather healthful) yesterday, I got my period last night (TMI?). And decided that 2/3 of a pint of ice cream would cure me. I did feel better. But today I hopped on the scale and well....ladies....in three days of not exercising and eating crappy....I gained THREE pounds!! Yikes! That's like a pound a day!

Today though, I hopped back on the wagon. I did a really great workout. So proud of myself! I am back to eating normal amounts of things. And no one I know has a birthday party any time soon- so we are safe there too. Mini cream puffs and mini cannoli are just too tempting right now!

I bought something this weekend. I know- I swore off shopping for Lent. But I am not allowed to wear this for a month. And I am not certain I will keep it either. It's my physical, in my face, to look at every day, reminder of the goal, incentive to work out. My goal is not actually to lose weight- though that of course will happen. My goal is to develop a healthier body. So I am not forcing myself to work out for any certain amount of time. But in order to keep this fabulous caftan (that is far more flattering in person than my photo- I swear), I must work out a minimum of four days each week until the 14th of April (the day before my dress can no longer be returned). I either keep my goal and keep the dress or don't reach my goal and return (with tears in my eyes) the dress. Those are the rules, kids! I promise to let you know if the dress forever moves into my wardrobe or not next month.

That is a great dress! I understand how you're feeling with the dieting and exercise. Its so hard sometimes! I like your idea about staying motivated to keep the dress though. I may use this one sometime!

I feel your pain. I'm on the right track for a few days, working out and feeling good and then I give myself the "oh, you deserve that bag of dark chocolate m&m's" and it's all down hill from there. I'm convinced once you start and stick to it, not even giving yourself weekends off, and the pounds are coming off, you don't want to risk it. Keep the faith, you can do it!

that is a GREAT dress and i admire you for the self discipline. It's hard to stick to a routine/goal- there's too many temptations that often sneak in! best of luck sticking with it!

Adorable caftan. And hey....ice cream cures all the ills of the world. That's probably what gave you the energy for that great workout! ha!

I think working out is the key. But don't take it from me, I am the non-example.

We all need to have a blow out from tim to time - btu I know what you are saying - I get the guilt when I deviate from plan as well - it's hard not to at this time of year when the goal is to shape up for summer - am trying to do the same at the mo, not lose weight but shape up a bit. Your routine sounds like a good one - best of luck!!

Very cute dress. And hey, don't beat yourself up if you miss a few days of working out. It is always good to just acknowledge it and pick right back up where you left off!

Love the caftan...as for the exercise thing, I've learned the best way to approach it is "one day at a time"...just focus on the now.

What a pretty caftan, the pattern is just wonderful! And hang in there on your other efforts, we're sending good thoughts your way Miss PPC, we all know how difficult it is, truly we do.

Grins & Giggles for your weekend,
