I just heard the best analogy on CNN. Allow me to paraphrase....
If the house is on fire, don't stop to debate where the child found the matches or who let him play with the matches. The house is on fire. Put it out. When everyone is safe and sound, then take the time to figure out where the toddler found the matches and who is at fault.
Washington....our country is on fire. Put. It. Out. Quit squabbling over minutiae. No one is ever going to draft a bill that will entirely please everyone. Put out the fire. Deal with the blame game tomorrow.

Such a bunch of DRAMA, I tell ya. A market economy will work itself out. The media needs to take a freakin' chill pill and stop freaking the country out. All of this is just evidence - in a rather HUGE way - that cash is king and debt is dumb.
I like that explanation. Best, Becs
Very well said.
Yeah I'm conflicted on parts of this package too but I think doing something is much better than doing nothing. Especially if the "nothing" is done simply because a bunch of old men decided to throw a temper tantrum.
Well said.
I agree. the bill was not perfect, but it was something. My mom has laways had this exprression about indecison 'oh just do something, even if its wrong!" I think that is the case here!
AMEN!
I just wonder what would happen if we let these Wall St. companies (and their CEOs) go bust. Would it really be economic ruin for the entire country?
If I run my company into the ground, who will save me??? Will I get a bonus?? What will happen to my employees??
Just sayin.
I'm going with an un-popular opinion, but I'm kinda glad they rejected the bill.
I was so irritated yesterday about that. How is it productive to argue about whose fault it is? Everyone stay calm and just freaking fix it.
Found your blog via your fanatstic comment on "becs" and couldn't agree with you more.
Yesterday, on 6th Ave between 45th and 46th, I was walking behind two men and overheard this:
Man 1- How do you ask for a raise now?
Man 2- You crazy? You don't.
Man 1- You think this is gonna affect the bonuses?
Man 2- I don't know.
Man 1- You know, Chicago is a nice city. Big. Clean. Cheap.
Man 2- Yeah, New York's dead.
A crazy time around here. Wish I was in Manchester.
