Hobby Lobby

Upstate New Yorkers...did you see the sign that we are getting our very first Hobby Lobby in the old Bon-Ton in Latham?  I am super excited but a bit confused.  Not two stores over is AC Moore and across the street is Michaels.  And 10 minutes away is the big Joann.  So while I think it's fabulous news, I am worried it will leave as soon as it comes.  Walmart is removing nearly their entire craft section and Target has next to nothing, too.  Do we really have the population up here to support three stand alone stores in walking distance of each other?

So all of that aside, I'm pumped.  I've only been in a Hobby Lobby once when I was visiting Bestie in Atlanta several years ago.  But she swears by the stores.  Do they sell fabric too?  Oooh I hope so.  It would be so nice to have a fabric source in that area too.

And just to throw it out there one more time, it would be super fun for all you locals who I know are reading (I can see your city in sitereader, my friends!) to come out of hiding.  I'd love love to know who are are, especially if we know each other in real life.  And how fun would it be to get a group of us together for a coffee meet up one of these days?

I have a quick question. Where you at the Lilly Pulitzer warehouse sale? I follow your blog and I thought I saw you.

I've never been to a Hobby Lobby, but I'm very excited to go!

I wish I could claim I live near you because I sure would take advantage of all of those craft stores. I'm hoping to one day live near a Hobby Lobby but that seems increasingly unlikely.

They sale fabric at pretty good prices. Also, they have frequent 40% off coupons if you sign up for the email list. They email me one almost every week. They have great prices on ribbon and wrapping paper right now in big rolls (no puny 10 or 25 ft of wrapping paper rolls. We are talking 75 plus.)
They have more sewing that Michaels and that is why I like them so much.
You will definitely love them.

Oh, Hobby Lobby is a wonderful place. They do have a fabric department, and they have tons(!) of home decor stuff. Much much more than Michaels and Joann's. If I had to pick, I would definitely go for Hobby Lobby. They run stuff 50% off ALOT (in fact, I don't buy much of anything there that isn't already 50% off, or with a 40% off coupon, which they post on their website about every other week), and they are usually cheaper than Michaels on alot of stuff. Hobby Lobby is headquarted in my state (OK) which is a cool thing too. If you like to craft or do home decor, you will be thrilled.! Happy shopping.

I've never been in a Hobby Lobby. Maybe my town will get one, too!

Hobby Lobby is way better than all those stores. They do carry fabric! Their Calico Corners fabric is almost always "on sale" for 30% off. They have sssoo much more including tons of decor items. I am dying for a pair of lamps I saw there today. The key to Hobby Lobby is to never buy anything full price because by the next week it will be on sale. M just bought me some glass canisters for my kitchen (flour, sugar, etc) for 50% off. Today I bought christmas paper and stuff to make a wreath all for 50% off. You will quickly become addicted to the store.

you're gonna love hobby lobby, I went for the first time a few weeks ago and they truly have a lil bit of EVERYTHING. I think my new job being real close to one is gonna become an issue...

Maybe Hobby Lobbies employees will be slightly more helpful than Michael's "I Don't Know" employees. If they are, then they'll survive the competition.

I'm in Atlanta and I adore Hobby lobby, much more than Michael;'s lately. Maybe it has something to do with it being very close. I really like them though, they offer really good prices and sales. Just yesterday i bought a bunch of Christmas decor stuff - all 50% off.

You'll love Hobby Lobby (except they're closed Sunday, which is when I usually HAVE to go!) But they do have a good fabric selection, good crafts, lots of the gifty stuff (frames, decorative things) and GREAT sales!

Thanks for stopping by Chopsticks and String. That's my secondary blog -- the primary one is http://themarmeladegypsy.blogspot.com -- so I hope you'll come over sometime!

Oh you know I'm a Hobby Lobby freak! Plus, it's a great company. Like one of the others said, I never buy anything that's not 50% off. They rotate sales every week, so you just have to log on and peek at the flyer to see what "categories" are on sale. It's always broad, like "all wall art" or "all gift wrap" on sale. Good stuff!
