Facing The Truth

Girls, I need to update my face.

Not like with a new face.  Though I think we have all had a day or two when we thought..."if only I looked like her instead of me!"

No as in I need to actually do something with this mug.

I'd like Botox, truth be told, between my eyebrows.  But budget and even more, fear wise, that is not an option.

But do you want to know what my daily beauty routine is?  It's pathetic is what it is.  But here goes.  Don't laugh.

* Moisturize.  Not with anything special.  Whateversonhand.
* Concealer.  Some days just under the eyes and a few other spots.  Other days, practically my entire face.  It just depends.
* Blush.
* Sometimes bronzer.
* Sometimes but not very often, eyeshadow.
* Sometimes but even less often, mascara.
* Chapstick.

Usually it stops after the blush and the chapstick finds its way on me later.  I own about nine million different lippys.  Every brand and flavor.  You name it, I probably own two and purchased them with coupons.

Now I actually own a lot of make-up.  From Bobby Brown down to drug store brands I got free with coups.  And I don't think there is much difference.

But I am lazy!

And unskilled at eye anything.  I think I need eyeshadow lessons.  And not from a Mary Kay lady with those cardboard diagrams (no offense if you are into MK- just totally not my thing- the parties creep me out).

So this weekend, my personal homework project is to buy a new eyeshadow brush.  I'd like to say my quest for better beauty will go beyond a new brush but I'm going to be honest, it probably will not.  Not this week anyway.

I'm just putting it out there that my face is a sad state of boring right now.

Apparently youtube has awesome tutorials. I know nothing and you can tell by my photos.

Do you have a Bare Escentuals store near you? If so, go. It's easy to wear, easy to apply, and is so lightweight that you don't feel "made up". I love it. They have great brushes too.

I love Olay's regenerist night cream in the red jar. I also love the Olay regenerist serum (the unscented one). They have made a world of difference in my skin. I also love the Mary Kay vit C serum (really, any Vit C product will do wonders for your skin).

A good eyebrow wax, eyelash curler, mascara, blush, and the perfect lipstick will go a LONG way!!!!

this made me giggle, first because i've always felt similarly lazy and unskilled, and second because i've never thought of you as anything less than put together.
my fave sites for beauty DIYs are thebeautydepartment.com and refinery29.com (which like 2 weeks ago showed a 5 minute face tutorial that was awesome!)
it should also be noted that i've spent enough at sephora on face creams and such this year that i've been bumped up to the higher rewards level. yeah. but i swear its working! i love their korres line of products.
anyway, you're beautiful, feel free to stay lazy :-)

I made me laugh because I just had a discussion with a coworker yesterday after she said " I didn't even know you wear makeup" I guess because I wear about as much as you do because I don't know how to apply it right and don't want to look like a clown hahah

Put mascara on. Everyday. It makes a world of difference! You can do it! Ha.

You should chat with my friend, Pam. She is the makeup queen. Also www.eyeslipsface.com is great for experimenting because it is all stupid cheap. Target carries some of their stuff but not much at all and you dont get the online discounts.

I just got these fun Loreal eye shadows that are 24hr and waterproof. You just spread with your finger. So very hard to mess up!

I am an eye person for sure. I'm a believer in either making the eyes or the lips the focal point. So I always go more dramatic on the eyes and softer hues on the lips.

Have fun!

It's tricky! I have a friend who works for NARS and no matter how often I try, I can't duplicate what she does. I will say that there are some great Botox deals on Groupon/living social for around $100-$125 in my area.

I do my makeup everyday because it's something I enjoy... I love makeup! But if you don't, don't sweat it! There are no rules, and if mascara isn't your thing, then don't worry about it!

I did do a post recently about the 10 products I'd re-buy if I had to start my makeup collection all over. Maybe there will be some ideas for you if you do want to branch out a bit.

This made me laugh out loud! I recently decided I needed to step up my make-up skills. I have been trying the eyeshadow thing and have even worn false eyelashes a few times :) I'm afraid people are just laughing at me though..."Poor thing...she's just old, but trying so hard!" lol...

thanks for the comment on my blog!!

I am so bad at doing my makeup. I think I missed the experimental phase when I was a pre-teen (you know when you wear too much makeup/trade with friends, etc) and now I just don't even try. I would love to get a good makeup routine going!

I'm not a huge makeup person, I like the au naturale look personally, but almost always wear lipstick and usually mascara.
You just gotta do what makes you feel best!
