Good Words

"I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."

-Martin Luther King Jr.

You couldn't have expressed my thoughts more accurately.
I was glad to hear he was gone, but disgusted by the celebrating that went on after it was announced.
It just brings us down to their level.

I thought this was a great quote too, but recently read an article that said only part of it is actually from MLK. The part that starts with returning hate for hate is MLK...the rest (the first part) came from a facebook post that was one girl's own sentiment that she just backed up with Dr. King's quote. It's still good none the less. I was also relieved that the search was over, but couldn't help but be disgusted at some of the reactions I heard afterward.
