Confession

I've never tried candy corn.  Ever.  The smell alone grosses me out.  They're so popular and cute, though.  Normally I love all things cute.  But ew, the smell...  So I am 30-something (Remember that show?  I used to think they were soooo old.) and still have no idea what the most popular Halloween treat tastes like.  I predict I never will.

I didn't say it was a super deep confession.

I wish I didn't like it because I shudder to think of the thousands of empty calories I've consumed over the years in candy corn.

Have you ever had a Payday candy bar? I you have, that's EXACTLY wat candy corn mixed with peanuts tastes like. It's my all time favorite snack!!!!!!!

PPC~ When I give those little cuties to my kinders...they either LOVE them or HATE them! There is no gray area on this one. Love, Mrs. Kindergarten

It's probably for the best! I like them, but they're so sugary and bad for you.

I love candy corn! It is so cute and they look good sitting out. The cinnamon ones are really good too. I think they are "vampire teeth". But, hey, who am I to say I like something, I eat circus peanuts too!

I really think candy corn is an acquired taste, being that it tastes like straight sugar and corn syrup. I do like to eat it about once a year, though!

I love candy corn. As a matter of fact, seeing the picture of it makes me want to go get a few pieces...at 8:55 am. Here I go...

There is something that most people do not care for.
I love candy corn. I don't eat it often because of the empty calories so you really aren't missing much.
I do not care for marhmallows or popcorn and people find that a bit odd.

You aren't missing anything...they just taste sickly sweet.
Now the 30-something show looks so young! I never really watched it because I dont like whiney people in real life so I dont want to see them on tv...but whenever I passed it on the retro channel it was always nice to take a moment to look at Ken Olin.

I happen to love candy corn. It is more of an indicator for me. It's a sign that Fall has arrived. I suppose if you think about it,candy corn is nothing more than soft, flavored (what flavor it is exactly, I don't know)chewable wax.
I love the colors, I love that it's a traditional candy and I hate to admit, I love the taste of this waxy stuff.
You've got to try it. Even if you don't end up liking them, just try it to say that you have.
I don't know....maybe going through life having never eaten a single candy corn is a status thing though. Kind of like an accomplishment of sorts.

HAHA! This is too funny! You aren't missing anything. They are foul little buggers. That being said I eat them once a year and then I quickly remember that I hate them.

They're gross. You're not missing anything.

BUT, like you, I do think they're super cute and so iconic for Halloween - I love to decorate with them.

LOVE you blog! It is my first time here and I can not wait to check it all out...I guess I am not going to get my errands done today :)

Candy corn is just ok in my book. I can think of a few other candy treats that I would rather spend my calories on.

Funny! I *love* candy corn. I'm with Paula - kind of wish I didn't but it's a fall fave!

I agree with everyone who says candy corn is either love or hate... I think it is horrible and gross. *shudder* And don't feel alone about not trying things. I had a deviled egg for the first time this Christmas-- I am almost 27, and I've lived in the south my whole life... so it's not like there has been a deviled egg shortage!

I did read somewhere that people who try new foods are happier though... so you may want to give it a go with the corn. :)

really? never? wow! I am trying to think really hard about a candy I have never tasted and I can't for the life of me think of what that candy might be. Go, you!

hahahahaha I love love love candy corn, but I abhor the little different-colored ones, like the harvesty ones with the brown in them. They don't taste right. Love the candy pumpkins, too.

I try to tell myself it's okay because at least they are fat-free. =)

I can't believe that! You do not know what you are missing (although I'm not sure I have ever tried smelling them first) cuz they are wonderful. Really. It's one of those things I can't put down once I get started!

You are not missing anything because they are GROSS!

Don't worry, and don't try them. They're disgusting, truly. Just yucky!!!! Get yourself a Reece's PBC pumpkin instead and call it good!

Ok, I am not a candy corn BY ITSELF eater..... mix it with peanuts in a dish/baggie and eat it together..... it tastes like a PayDay candy bar....DELISH:)

Candy corn really isn't that good but still I find it addictive. I generally don't buy it for that reason.

Candy Corn is delicious but I can only have a few at a time. Too sweet :)

Well, in my opinion, you are definitely not missing much! I find them totally gross and practically would cringe when all my second graders brought them in their lunch! I can honestly say that's one candy that never tempts my sweet tooth!

THEY ARE SO NASTY! Yuck. They make your teeth rot out!

adozeneggs said...

yeah, candy corn is not very good. It has a weird flavor.
there is however, a home made candy corn recipe out there that I've never tried, but it might be good...
Stick with chocolates!!

With a handful of peanuts, they are fabulous. But I prefer to just eat the pumpkins!
