Swap Gone Wrong

I don't think my first attempt at hosting a swap went very well. I had a ball with my swap partner but I am not sure anyone else did. And I feel crazy guilty about that!! In the last 24 hours, two swappers have informed me that they sent a package but never received one. Y'all, I have been in those shoes several times and it really really stinks!! It is so disappointing to be told that the present will be sent soon and then soon never ever comes. Your partners worked so hard on putting together packages that they knew would put a smile on your face during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Please, please, please put your package together this week and send it out by Friday at the latest. And for sanity's sake, email your swap partner (or me at the very least) and tell her that it really is going to arrive soon. She will very much appreciate hearing from you!! Several swappers were first time swap participants and I don't want this sour experience to turn them off forever from swapping. This was supposed to be fun, not a hassle. I'm so sorry everyone that this was not the success I had once hoped it would be. Perhaps the organization is best left up to others in the future.

For those not totally turned off from swapping, Hopsy is hosting a PINK swap. Leave your email in her comment box to sign up!

Bummer! I did sign up, but I never heard from my swap partner. I figured she changed her mind. Lucky for me, I got to keep the wooden snowman I purchased before I realized the swap wasn't going to happen.

Thanks anyway for trying it.

Oh, PPC! I think it went great, at least from my end! My partner and I LOVED each other's packages. I kept meaning to tell you. But I've been on the empty end of a swap a time or two, as well....thanks again for hosting!

Oh my gosh! This is TERRIBLE and the second time I have heard of a swap gone wrong this season. It is very horrible to think that people are that low that they lie about a package. I guess I need to write a little note about respect for my swap and perhaps even consider having participants include a tracking number. This is such a let down!

Please don't place the blame on yourself...you did a GREAT job organizing the swap!! Thank you for your post and for the swap...I did have fun buying gifts for my partner...I hope she likes the gifts I sent her...

I think every swap has its people who don't actually swap. It really sucks. I have warned other "hosts" about the people who have not sent packages before. At least they can make sure not to include those people (did that make sense??)

Don't blame yourself - you can't control what other people do - keep in mind though, it could be an innocent mistake - I had sent my partner's package and just had it returned today much to my surprise....I never thought to track it because every other package I've sent has gone off without a hitch.

I got my gifts on time and they were lovely. Thank you for hosting it. It was fun! I used to host swaps with my adoption group and there was always one or two people who didn't do what they were supposed to. Not your fault at all!

I surely don't think it's your fault at all. I just find it shocking that someone would sign up for such a fun project and then not do it. Why bother signing up??

This is actually the main reason I've yet to participate in a swap... not because I think a partner would flake on me, but because I know myself well enough to know that I'm too darn busy to put the time and effort into putting together a fabu package for someone. But hello, that's why I don't sign up! Someone should have sense enough NOT to sign up for something they can't follow through on, you know?

I think they sound like so much fun though. Don't blame yourself at all - I'm sure there are "those" in every swap. You did a great job and you should continue to do it! :-)

It is too bad that the swap did not workout. It sounds like so much fun though.

That happened to me this year in an ornament exchange I had with old email buddies. I hate when people do that!

I feel so bad. I finally got mine in the mail today with some things for the next holiday as well. I apologize for being one of the people who didn't follow the rules.
I didn't ever receive a package, but hopefully now that I've sent mine out, one will come :)

Haha - my mom said my broccoli sounded gross, but she was happy that I was happy - and honestly, it was delish! :) Glad you're in the same boat for getting your veggies!

Just wanted to let you know that I did sign up for the Kappa Prep Pink Swap.
And again, please don't think it was you who messed up the swap. How would you have control over someone who signs up and doesn't follow through!!??I'm now worried that something tragic has happened to my Swap partner as she hasn't responded to my 2 emails!

I'm sorry your swap didn't go off w/o a hitch. I hope the ladies that have still not sent their packages will get them out ASAP. I have done 2 swaps and have loved them and my swap partners were GREAT!

Oh and I got my jean jacket from Coldwatercreek.com
