Dumb Blonde Moment

Shhh....let's please keep this little confession between us girls.  OK?  I had a total dumb blonde moment last night.  Or an ah-ha moment.  Sometimes there's a fine line.

I randomly heard someone on TV say something about "dec/deck the halls" and after 32 years of life it finally dawned on me.  Dec/deck is short for decorate.  And hello, that makes so much sense.  How the heck did I never realize this before now?

I was however smart enough to make this delicious casserole last night.  I did not grow up eating casseroles.  I actually might have been in college the first time I ate one.  That's probably not true but I certainly have no specific or special memories of eating them.  Probably because they are a cold weather food.  And I am from South Florida.  But now that I live in the North Pole Upstate NY, I am branching out.  I changed it a bit- I used an entire onion and omitted green peppers.  And I doubled the rice.  When I make it next time, I will also omit the cheese on top.  I am just not a big fan of a baked cheese topping.  But overall, it was super delish and the perfect fall meal (with a big salad- I didn't want you to think I went to bed without veggies).  Oh and it's gluten free without even trying.  Big bonus!

In much bigger news...I was the winner winner chicken dinner last night too!  I have been drooling over the Silhouette machine since first learning about it a while back on blogs.  And last night I was the big winner over at House of Hepworths!!  I am elated.  In fact, I was in bed already when I read the email.  So excited, I got out of bed and bounced around my room squealing.  The dog, now totally used to my spazzy self, didn't even react to my gleeful gestures.  I cannot wait for my fun early Christmas present to arrive and start crafting, crafting, crafting!

If it makes you feel any better, it took me nearly 21 years to figure out that the Santa in "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" was the dad. I just thought some little girl was singing about her mom cheating on her dad with Santa Claus, which I thought made a TERRIBLE and disturbing Christmas song.

I think we all travel lightheadedly through Christmas music. We sing along with the words, but rarely stop to think about their meaning.
I wonder how many songs I sing and don't know what I'm actually singing about.

You are hilarious. "Deck" is actually a word on its own though... like deck the halls or getting decked out. But like you said, it does mean to decorate or beautify!

Falalalala Lalalala!

I'm listening to Christmas music 24/7 right now...haha. :-)
