ERROR 503

Many times a day, sometimes a dozen or more times a day, I get a blank white screen that reads Error 503 from Blogger.  Usually when I try to comment.  I take the time to leave a long-ass comment and then jump through the hoops that y'all put up in the form of security codes that pop up AFTER I type the comment at the bottom of the screen (My total pet peeve by the way.  So you know I really really like you if I still comment on your blog if you have it set up this way.  I cannot tell you how many times I have clicked away after typing the comment because I didn't see that I had to scroll down to the bottom again to try typing in a secret code four times to really leave the comment.) then to have this code pop up.  I then click backspace and the comment is gone.  At this point I may or may not leave a new and shorter comment.

The code will pop up at other times too, though most frequently during the hoop jumping comment process.  But sometimes when I click "Dashboard" and the like it will occur.

Is anyone else getting these error codes?  Do you have a solution?  Years ago I had an issue with Blogger and after searching the internet and asking bloggers, I finally asked Blogger.  It took them more than six months to get back to me.  So I don't feel that's at all helpful.  It's been going on for a long while now and I am so over it!  I won't lie, the pop up code thing is annoying.  But when combined with this error code and having to re-type a comment...well it makes me less inclined to comment on blogs.  And that's not right.  I've always been pretty good at leaving comments.  I don't want to stop.  But my frustration level is at an all time high right now with Blogger!

And since I mentioned it, I am dying to know.  Why do some people have the security code right below the comment box. So you can see it as you are typing a comment.  (the far less annoying way to add the security code thingy)  And some folks have the hoop jumping pops up after you type and click "post comment" and then makes you scroll down to the bottom to see if you have a hidden security code thingy?  I guess I don't understand the point of the security codes at all.  I set mine to require approval so that if sketchy or mean comments are left, I just delete them before they see the light of day.  Maybe that's annoying to y'all too?  Honestly I am just curious why the security comment boxes are so different.  I'll still comment.  But I have also walked away from the jump through hoops pop up things many times after getting so frustrated.

Any advice to solve mystery 503?

Funny, the first time I tried to comment just now, I got the error 503 code!! :) It means your service is unavailable. For some reason you are getting kicked offline. It happens to us at work off and on during the day. ANNOYING!

Also, I use to make people put the security code in when I did not moderate my comments so I wouldn't have a lot of spam. Now I moderate so like you, I just delete anything I don't want posted!

Oh so maybe this is just me! I thought all this time it was blogger or maybe connected to the pop up comment things but maybe it's really just my service? I'm at a low point and we struggle to get a good connection for cell and internet here. Nevermind...I guess it's just me! Ha.

It happens to me sometimes too but I always thought the trouble was on Blogger's end. I just try to be patient and if I can re-type my comment as close to the original as possible. I once had trouble for almost an hour trying to leave comments and adding stuff to my own blog but wasn't having trouble loading any other websites, so I assumed it wasn't anything to do with my internet connection. Not that I'd complain too much even if it were Blogger's fault because it is a free service, after all.

As for the security code thing, I initially had that set up where it would show the security code right below the comment form. I recently disabled it because someone who hosts a link party I regularly post to always comments on every item linked up, and she mentioned what a pain in the butt it is to have to enter those codes over and over again. Even worse when you get to the next screen, think your comment went through, and then the security code box magically pops up. Anyway, I thought having the code would prevent spammers from easily leaving stupid comments but I've had no problems in the two weeks since I disabled that. In fact, I've only had one spammer on my blog and that was while I still had the security code enabled so I don't see the point either.

I agree! So frustrating and I've lost many comments that way.

I hate when I get that message. Don't worry it is not you.
I don't like when after hitting post it then pops up asking for the security code. But we each get to decide what works best for us.

I had such a difficult time commenting a couple days ago that every comment I made I copied it just in case it magically disappeared when I got an error message!

I tend to get the error message more often when I'm using an older computer (i.e. my work computer); I never have any problems on my newer netbook.
