Please Help My Face

Friends, I need to tell you something less than flattering about myself. Hopefully we can all still be friends after I admit this to y'all. Ready? I have a very shiny face! Always have. Magazines kindly call it t-zone but regardless, it's shiny. I use oil free moisturizer in the morning, but to be honest, that just doesn't cut it up here in the North Pole. And as I know lack of moisture creates more oil, it is not uncommon for me to use whatever lotion I have sitting around on my noggin. But even in the summer when it is not dry up here and I can get away with only using oil free, I still have a shiny face about 10 minutes after I put on my make-up each morning. I do not use foundation (I know, I know, gasp, how am I a woman? Are you sitting down? I don't like mascara unless absolutely necessary either! Oh and I don't care much for chocolate. I swear I am all girl other than that though.) because I think it makes my face even oilier. But this is a time for making changes and I am willing to try anything (within reason of course- so if it starts with Bo and ends in tox, forgetaboutit.). Do y'all have any special tricks up your Lilly-print sleeves that you are willing to share with a desperate girl who is currently freezing her shiny head off in the North Pole? Did I mention that the high this weekend (with windchill) is supposed to be zero. As in no degrees. Complete lack of degrees. I know it has nothing to do with my skin issue but I am bitter (cold) about it all the same.

OMG! We are separated at birth! I HATE chocolate. I don't use foundation (but I do use translucent loose powder). I do like mascara - but I use the drugstore stuff because paying $20 for mascara is regoshdarndiculous! I hate seriously oily skin for the longest & it got worse as I got older n older. The solution for me was prescription Accutane. That stuff is sheer miraculous! A royal pain in the arse to get it prescribed due to FDA regulations & risk of side effects - but oh so worth it!! My insurance paid for it all - never cost me anything out of pocket except lip balm (it dries you out big time). But now my skin is dewy but not shiny oily! Awesome!
As far as the cold goes....I bought myself a Delonghi portable ceramic heater (weighs all of 1 or 2 lbs & no bigger than a cereal box) - I drag that thing around with me everywhere. Sit it on the coffee table aimed at me, take it in the bathroom when I'm getting ready, drug it to work a few times too! Love it!!

Try a product called cornsilk. It's a face powder that has corn starch in it that absorbs oil. My sister used to swear by it. How's Sadie doing? Is her nose better?

I have your solution! Haha I have a very shiny nose and for the last few years I have been using Smashbox's "Anti-Shine". I put it on after my moisturizer and before my powder and it works wonders. It just mattifies whatever area you put it on, but be sure to blend well! I'm not sure of the cost but one tube lasts me about a year because you only use a tiny amount. Hope this helps! Love your blog!

A friend of mine once suggested to me to try a foundation primer for oily skin, you need not actually wear foundation on top but it prevents shine, I havent tried it myself but it works for her! I usually just use those blotting sheets myself xo

I would love to send you some samples of our Peau Equilibree line. It has truly helped several of my customers with their oily skin. You need to balance out your skin. You are correct that you definitely need to moisturize or your body will produce more oil.
You can check out the product information at my website which is on my blog or please feel free to contact me. [email protected]

And can they turn off this COLD. WOW crazy, I think our wind chill is -5 to -10 right now.

I think we share the same facial genes. I don't really have acne anymore, but I have an oily TZone if I don't maintain my skin care routine. So...I use the Acne-Free skin care line (available at Costco, Target, etc... competitor to ProActiv) and it's helped keep my whole face soft, clear, and well moisturized. NEXT, I've used Bare Escentuals makeup - Mineral Foundation as well as the Mineral Veil finishing powder. I've never tried any of the competitors...but MY skin looks great and I get compliments ALL the TIME.

I hope you find something that you like. It feels so good to feel great.

I'm back on my blog... go check it out! Thanks for your inspiration... did you buy the sweatshirt? MURAD saved my life! It helps the shininess and oil! I get the kit with all 4 products. Bare minerals is also good, but usually I am too lazy to put on makeup.

I think you owe it to your self to go to a dermatologist. Sometimes over the counter products just don't do the trick. Your doctor will help determine if medication is your answer. Let us know what happens ok?

Have you tried blotting papers? And I feel your pain with skin woes. Mine gets sooooooo dry.

Love your description of the temperature, it is a classic: "Complete lack of degrees."

I wish I had insight or input on the beauty question, but I don't Miss Crocodile.

Sending you a smile,
