I Don't Get It

So by now you all know that I watch just about every show on TLC. I've never seen The Office or Lost or the save the cheerleader show. I have yet to even watch Dancing With The Stars this season. But if its on TLC, chances are good that I've seen it. Sometimes twice. Including the much debated about Duggar family. I think they are a hoot, don't judge.

They seem like genuinely nice people. I'd love to meet them. Not in their house though. Why would you get tile floors with so many small but loud voices? I know its easier to clean but the volume level in that house must be at astronomical decibels. Just the thought makes me shudder. I sit with the remote control by my side at all times so that I can constantly lower the volume during commercials. I guess I am sound sensitive.

But I digress. My main question is, why are they still shopping at second hand shops for everything? I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I dig a thrift store now and then myself. But I'm just surprised that they don't have company after company offering freebies for them to pimp on their TV show. Gosh, the Gosselins got all kinds of stuff each year on their show. And the Duggars have been on TV for years now. They are on the Today Show just about every other week talking about a new pregnancy. No shops or baby gear companies sent them presents? Heck, I've seen bloggers get goodies just for posting a review on the blog. But on their show this week they went shopping for everything baby related at that giant thrift sale thingy.

Also, does anyone else ever wonder if the D family and the G family trash talk each other off camera? Or is that just me?

Macy and I watch them all the time! That had never crossed my mind before but you are so right! Wonder if they turn stuff down or something? That was one massive "yard" sale! Hope your having a great day! = )

I wonder the same thing about the thrift store thing! I bet they refuse things, or something.... or maybe they donate it to others... yeah I would love to hear what think about the G family and reverse!

Maybe they do get lots of stuff, but it's just the way that they are, and they don't share about the things that they get for "free", because they take pride in their thriftiness. I'm not sure...just an idea! :)

I would be willing to bet that if they do get promotional items from companies they either turn down the offers, or they donate the goods to families less fortunate.

I personally think its great that they haven't changed their lifestyle or shopping habits just because of having a successful TV show. Hopefully they are saving the money for the future, or donating it to people who really need it!

I wonder if they receive the offers and refuse them or give the clothes, etc to charity. I have watched it a few times. The house reminds me of a campsite a nice one, but the communal bedrooms, the industrial kitchen, the shared closet.... it doesn't feel family-like to me. The tiles don't help either!

Okay, so I'm totally going to pass judgement here... I've never watched the show, but no matter how much you love children to keep having children to the extent they have done I think there's something wrong with you... I'm sure they are very nice, but there is a psychological illness that describes women who are addicted to being pregnant and I bet she has it... seriously what are they on 19? 20? It's just too much for me!

Hmmm.. That's a good question. I wonder??

And how many is too many when it comes to those kids??

The Duggers amaze me. I wonder too if they turn things down and do it all themselves b/c companies have to be shoving free stuff at them. Good for them for taking care of the family they have created.

I don't think the D's are "allowed" to trash talk. Ah ha

ha! So true on the free advertising spin. I saw bits and pieces of the journey to the huge consignment sale. Did it end with the birth of the new grandchild? Didn't catch that part. Need to catch up on my Duggar news. I do have to say I would totally get tile floors for the clean factor and learn to live with the noise.

I have wondered this same thing! Maybe they turn it down? They seem like the type to turn down all those freebies.

I think this family is pretty amazing. Some people don't like the show but I like how wholesome they are!
