OK, so I waited until episode #2 to make up my mind about this show. But I have to say, for as excited as I was to watch it, I am equally un-in-love with the show. Such a disappointment for me. I mean, in some ways its what I expected. But in other ways, it's so sad to watch. I am one of those people who sees something embarrassing on TV and will feel embarrassed myself. And that's what I feel while watching NYC Prep. Because in 10 years, these kids who pretend to be adults, will look back mortified at their behavior. They just seem so fake to me. They have all this financial and physical freedom but that does not mean they are actually grown-ups. They sure as heck don't act like adults!
Jesse, you need to just simmer down. Honestly sugar, you are a bitch. You are, just own up to it. You went to an event to "network" and then got hysterical when faced with speaking with two girls you didn't know. Um, you know you made a fool of yourself, right?
PC, I've known a lot of boys like you in my lifetime. But you are not an adult. In fact, most of the time you tend to act like a toddler. A mean, spoiled brat who no one wants to play with toddler. Chew on that for a while.
Everyone else, how are y'all not mortified by what you say and do on camera. Call me conservative, but do high school kids really, truly sleep around like they claim on this show? I must have lived in a box during my high school and even college years because I've never known people to brag so openly about all of their one night stands. Then again, I'm pretty sure someone would call Child Services if they knew I was living by myself six nights a week at age 16!!
So in conclusion, I thought I would hate RH New Jersey and LOVE LOVE LOVED it. I thought I would adore NYC Prep and I don't think I can stomach another sad little episode. I'd be happy with RH NY and NJ all year long!!

I want my RHNJ back! The ATL crew is coming back July 30th! I turned NYC Prep off it made me sick!
I watched the first two epidsodes also and just cannot stomach it. The kids are so self absorbed and proud of it. There are several reality TV shows I like and I love Gossip Girl, but this show drives me crazy.
This show disgusts me.
Agreed. Not what I had hoped. I would certainly rather watch the real housewives.
I watched last night for the first and last time. I attempted to erase it from my memory with wine.
I must have been in a box too, b/c I don't know anyone who acted the way they do in high school.
Part of me wants to think it is fake...but part of me wonders if its real?
I just want to reach into the television when they say they are "Independent"...they are far from that!
I have a number of friends who grew up in the city and are not like these kids in the least. They would NEVER act like these kids, and they come a far better pedigree.
PC's grandfather, the uber successful and powerful Pete G. Peterson, co-founder of Blackstone must be MORTIFIED at his behavior. I would be.
If these kids consider themselves to be socital or hope to someday be socital, they have started off on the wrong foot. I wouldn't let Jessi on my Junior Committee....
"I am one of those people who sees something embarrassing on TV and will feel embarrassed myself"-I am the exact same way.
I really don't like these "characters". I think they are full of themselves and kinda weird looking. Honestly I watch TV to escape (look at beautiful people, pretend I am not unemployed, wish for Blair's closet, etc) and these kids are so annoying. I can't believe the parents let them film!
PS-I thought PC was gay! Is he not??
I couldn't agree more! I was so excited to watch this show and I literally can't sit through it. I want to throw things at the tv the kids annoy me so much! I was very disappointed but I guess I don't know why I expected it to be great!
You are just the bee's knees Miss Crocodile, we didn't watch it, but from all we've read and heard this sounds like what our reaction would be if we did!
Congrats on the contacts, that is fabulous!

I can't agree with you more. They think they're all cool and grown-up but they're so immature. But, at the same time, it makes for good entertainment to watch a whole lot of rich jerks make fools of themselves. But for "real" Upper East Side drama, I'm sticking to Gossip Girl.

I love RHNJ! NYC Prep, to me at least, is like a car crash, you don't want to stare, but it's so hard to look away. It's so bad, that I just keep watching. Someone should really take the remote away! And for the whole one night stand thing, I just graduated high school 2 years ago, and I can definitely say that I didn't hear of ANY one night stands! I think these are just terribly troubled kids who don't even know what reality really is.
I am right there with you, I am a huge Gossip Girl and RHONY fan so I was going to try this out, but what jerks! So sad!!
P.C. is totally James Spader's character in Pretty in Pink. I hate this show.
I tried too! I really did but I just can't watch. Maybe I'm way too old and far removed to watch these teenagers play "life"
That show is horrible. I saw the premiere online. I had to stop it after 5 min, couldn't take it anymore. I will stick to my Gossip Girl.
Tired to like this show, but I just can't. It has not an air of upper class more than it does of inbreeding. Their parents should be ashamed too - they made these kids into brats.
My 17 year old son and I watched both episodes. We had a great time laughing at how self absorbed they were and how old they all tried to act. That Sebastian needs to have an HIV test weekly. I hope they bring the parents in a little more. I want to see what they are actually like. I can't imagine letting a 16 year old live alone in NYC. This is a train wreck that I just can't help but watch.
Right on.
I m so with you on this. I was so excited for NYC Prep and I have to say I think I will be deleting it from my DVR. Now RHNJ and RHNYC...AMAZING!!!!
Just found your blog and wanted to say hi. It is lovely!
I am sort of liking this show, but nothing compares to the Real Housewives series on Bravo!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :) XO
couldnt have said it better myself!
I'm a fan of RHNJ too! I didn't think I would like it either, but it's pretty fun to watch.
I'm not much of a fan of NYC Prep either.
Makes me glad that we don't have TV. I don't know if I could stomach this show.
I so agree with you! Why is it ok for a 16 year old and her brother to live alone in an apartment? Its not! I can't wait for RHNJ next season :)
NYCPrep is the perfect reason for abortion....the parents should brought to justice for the obvious failures to humanity.
