So we talk a lot about shows we love on blogs but I think that shows we strongly dislike are just as revealing. In no particular order, here are a few of my least favorite TV programs....
THE VIEW. I've said it on this blog (and probably many of yours) before but I seriously just don't understand why anyone would watch that show. Everyone- and I mean every single host- is so super rude and mean. Not every day, but at least one or two per day. They tend to really talk down to guests- I think Barbara and Elizabeth are the worst at this. What the heck happened to Babs? I used to love her interviews in the 80's. But now, she is all about fluff, dumb, mindless questions when it comes to rare and important interviews. Then she is a nasty B to silly guests who are just there to plug a reality show or sitcom. I don't care that they have different views. In theory I think that's a swell idea. But my biggest complaint about The View is that they all talk at the same stinkin' time. They talk over each other, louder than the next person, making it impossible to make heads or tails of the conversation. It's like watching five pre-schoolers squawking at each other. I have no idea who watches the show or why. I do love Elizabeth's wardrobe. Girl's got style, I'll definitely give her that. She wears the best dresses. Ugh, but it is just the worst show. Ick! It's painful to watch.
ILLUSIONISTS. Like David Blane and Chris Angel. It's not entertaining to see a grown man hang upside down for a week. I mean, if TV cameras weren't there, a big fire truck would roll up and talk that man down. Tight white jackets would be worn and medication would be administered. Where is the line drawn?
TATTOO SHOWS. I don't even know what to say about these shows. They scare me. Why are all of the tattoo artists so dark and harsh? Is wearing leather a prerequisite to work there?
COURT/JUDGE SHOWS. They have been on since the beginning of time so clearly I am in the minority here. But I don't understand. It's always a collection of characters who love curse words, don't speak proper English and go to court to argue over a TV or $62.
FISHING. Because it's so exciting to watch an old man sit in a boat? I do know several guys who watch fishing. Maybe men watching fishing is like women watching cooking? Though I would argue that cooking is fast paced and colorful and entertaining and fun.
FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS. I remember exactly where I sat when I watched the premier episode in the mid 80's. And I remember turning to my mother and proclaiming that there was no way this show would last a full season. I believe the show celebrated it's 20th anniversary recently. I still do not understand what the draw is. It's just not that funny. A lot of dumb and/or gross humor, babies bumping into walls, and dogs barking words.
So there you have it. My must not see list in random order. What are your "I refuse to watch that" TV shows?

I feel ya girl! The reason why you don't "get it": you have class!!
Also, The View gives me hives!
I strongly dislike The View as well. And Elizabeth may have style, but that's about it.
That show is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
I don't get the tattoo shows either.
Reality shows, especially the Flavor of Love and all of it's spin offs. Gross.
Rachel Ray bugs me, too.
These is an excellent list--I couldn't agree more.
I can't watch any sitcom with a laugh track--let me decide if it's funny, ok?
I am with you on these! I am not a fan of The View at all, my post yesterday was all about the clothing choice!!
Well, I just posted on my blog a few days ago that I dvr The View! And you and I usually see eye to eye on everything! Ha!
I like to watch the first 20 mins or so - the "hot topics" segment. I don't know why - I like to see them argue. Elisabeth is a passionate republican but sometimes she isn't that bright or informed and I like to see Whoopi and Joy "inform" her. I don't know. I will grant you that sometimes it gets out of hand and they talk over each other. That bugs me. I also don't care much for BW anymore. I don't know - different strokes for different folks.
The shows I hate are any 'contest' show - dancing with the stars, American Idol, The biggest loser, and so you think you can dance come to mind. I don't know - I just don't enjoy them. And I dislike any program like AI with Simon-like judges. Why must they be so mean? Doesn't do it for me.
Oh, and I've never watched a CSI/Law & Order show. Not because they're awful, I just never have.
You know Miss Crocodile, we are totally in sync with you on your list. Every single one.

Yeah I totally agree on the View... ick!
I can't think of any shows off the top of my head that I totally detest... but ones in general that really annoy me are the ET's, Inside Edition, Xtra... the entertainment ones. Oh, I still find myself watching them if there's nothing else on - but they are SO ridiculous! There's really only about 5 minutes of actual content and the rest of it is filled with teasers. So absurd.
I definitely agree with m.a. lacking class is necessary in order to stomach those court shows as with the view. My list is pretty much all of the VH1 shows (Flavor Flave, et all)and America's Next Top Model and of course Rachel Ray (she is too perky and her food doesn't even taste all that good and takes way longer then 30min to make.
Amazing that one lacks class because one likes a tv show. Duly noted.
Um...Anonymous....did you actually read the post? I didn't say anything about one being classy or not. I was simply giving my blog pals some insight about my taste. I don't think I am better because I don't watch certain shows and do watch others. Just my personal preference. Relax a little....it's just a list.
I don't like The View or court/judge shows. I also dislike Rachel Ray and contest shows.
Fishing and hunting shows-what my husband sees in Bass Masters is beyond me. At least on a cooking show you get a recipe.
I have to agree on all of these! lol
The View drives me crazy...those ladies fight over the same things every day...it's so old.
I HATE tattoo shows too! ew!
I also hate any shows on the military channel and also watching golf.
I'd much rather have Grey's Anatomy any day. :)
fishing. that says it all in my book. UGGG.
The view has become too much about bitching and moaning for me. I hate cat fights. It used to be good!!!
I agree about the talking over each other on the View... it gets SO annoying, but I would love to have Elisabeth's wardrobe!
