So I fully intended to post this on or near the Father's Day. But life got busy and well....I just didn't. But if you suddenly heard a choir of angels singing that weekend, it was my fault. My dad is such a dad. He could care less what he looks like. He would wear a red polo shirt and jeans (that I think are about an inch too short to look cool) every day if I didn't buy him shirts in other colors. Two Christmases ago I bought him a polo shirt that is navy with white stripes- but like the navy part is much wider than the white part. Very nautical/preppy. The man was all, "stripes will make my big belly look fat!" And I'm all, "seriously dad, just wear the shirt. You are the last person to be offering up fashion advice. Trust me!" Man loves the shirt of course. And now owns several, thankyouverymuch! The jeans issue I just gave up on as I decided that it was too much of an uphill battle. But then there is the issue of shoes. Summer shoes to be specific. He refused to wear flip flops. Said he didn't like they way they felt. And I insisted that these days there are zillions of brands on the market and they all feel different. I'm totally sure he tried them on once like 20 years ago and held a grudge ever since. I was in LL Bean the week before Father's Day though and saw red (his favorite color) flip flops with black labs (as in our dog Bailey who passed away a year + ago) on them. If I was ever going to get this man into a pair of flops, this was going to be the pair. And then it happened kids.....he. put. them. on!! AND actually wore them out and about that day. And has been wearing them on weekends to walk the dog and stuff every since! Ahhhhhhhhh (angel chorus!)!!!!
