Dog-gone-it Oprah!

It's a cold and wet day here today. I don't watch her all that often but I saw a blurb on TV earlier in the week that Oprah was going to do a show today on dogs. I love dogs so I decided to watch. Um, it's horrible. I am sitting here bawling because the show is about dog abuse and puppy mills. This is not what I signed up for Miss Oprah. I thought you were going to show me cute things. Instead you are breaking my heart and making me want to run down to Lancaster County PA (where the worst mills are apparently!) and bring all of those puppies home with me. So sad. If you are taping this show- don't watch unless you are prepared to cry. A lot.

I recorded this show and was planning to watch it this weekend. Thanks for the warning!

Oh man, thanks for the warning. I have it dvr'ed and was looking forward to watching it.

The reason I am a vegetarian is because of cruelty to animals. I'm a mess when it comes to animals, they are defensless and depend on humans. Unfortuately some humans are evil. I'll be sure to have my tissues next to me.

Doesn't it make you want to get up and do something? I know it makes me feel that way. There must be a way we can help.

I cried through the whole thing! When they started the show with a tribute to Oprah's dog that just passed away I knew I was in trouble b/c I was crying so hard. I called my husband during the show and told him we needed to go adopt more dogs to save them...he told me to turn the tv off!

As an animal advocate, who sees these atrocities on a daily basis and lives just one short hour away from Lancaster, I say BRAVO OPRAH!!

She aired this show for the exact reasons you didn't want to see it.

Without public pressure we'll never change the lives of the tens of thousands of dogs trapped in PENNSYLVANIA puppy mills.

Instead of complaining, why not write to your state representative or senator and tell them to start passing some of the animal welfare legislation that's forever held up in PA's red tape?

Pretending a problem doesn't exist DOESN'T MAKE IT GO AWAY.

Please, help the dogs. Support all humane legislation in PA today!! Google: boycott pa pet shops for more info!

Anonymous- I don't think I was complaining. Just warning everyone that it is going to make you cry. And I agree that anyone living in PA should definitly take actions. Ditto for those of us in the other 49 states.

So heartbreaking!

I watched it as well, and cried the whole time. I really want to go adopt a dog today!! I always heard puppy mills were horrible, but I never envisioned they could be as awful as they actually are...so sad! I can't believe it's legal.

I just watched it on tivo last night and felt sick to my stomach. The euthanized dogs in the dumpster the actual worse! We live just one county away from Chester County and I was about to drive to main line rescue to adopt a dog. We already have a great dog....but you know I will be going there another time. Lancaster county isn't far from us either- so really hit home. Sad show.
