Stupid eBay!

I listed a Kate Spade bag that I bought several years ago and never use on eBay earlier in the week. And this afternoon eBay removed my listing. The note said that it was because I do not have a selling history. Which is true, I've only ever purchased from eBay. But I was completely honest in my write up, took my own photos (thus did not steal photos from an online site), and was clear that it is pre-owned but in good condition. I mean, it's your very basic write up. I was just trying to clean out my closet of things I never use but take up space.

I emailed the eBay peeps to ask for clarification but they have yet to respond back to me. So I cannot sell on eBay unless I have a selling history, which I can never obtain apparently as I am not allowed to sell??? What the heck?! Has anyone else had this problem too? Like I said, this was my first time selling. But I do have a gold star thingy for being a good buyer. I don't get it!! Clearly I am way ticked off!

I had a similar experience when I tried to sell something, and I never tried again!

Ebay can be a pain in the you know where!! Try selling the bag on your blog.

The same thing happened to me and I just decided eBay could ____ you know what. I have pretty good luck on Craig's List but obviously not the wide net of buyers. I am listing several Coach, Kate Spade and JCrew never-worn shoes this week.

That is so wacky! I would think EBay would want new sellers. I listed two items on EBay for the first time last winter, but I had sold a bunch of textbooks on their other site half.com so I guess that must have counted as having a selling history.

I have such issues with eBay it's not even funny. You might try to sell your purse at a consignment shop instead.

I cannot WAIT for the day a new website better than anything eBay could hope to be pops up & that it puts FEAR into eBay & all the world realizes how outdated & evil eBay is & leaves them high n dry. Then eBay crumbles into a distant memory & becomes the butt of the joke in al the negative ways.

Can you tell I hate eBay?

I have been buying and selling on ebay for 5 years, and since I started selling early on, I didn't have to deal with that issue. I suggest calling ebay at (866) 643- 2959 hopefully you can talk to a customer service rep!! Good luck, what you're going through is SO frustrating!

Ugh..that's discouraging...I've never sold anything on Ebay either and I was getting ready to sell a couple of Kate Spade's too...I'll be interested to hear if you get a response...

I'm sorry that happened...worse case you can mail to me and I will list for you. Maybe start with selling something that doesn't have a high profile. Something gap or random around your house. Good luck and let me know if you need my help.

I'm so sorry! I've never had them retract a listing because of that, but they have taken down my listings for the oddest things (one time they said my picture wasn't "licensed" to me when I uploaded a gift card). When I emailed them about it they responded efficiently though, so I hope the same luck will come your way! XOXO

I've never sold or bought from ebay. But I hear some very quirky things about it. That doesn't make sense. How does one start a selling history then!

Boo! How frustrating.

What?! That is really weird and makes absolutely no sense. I agree with Her Preppiness - try selling it on your blog!

That is very interesting. I just sold two items on Ebay with no selling history, but an extensive buying history (439 items). I now have four more items listed.

Perhaps you buying was below a certain threshold?
