Say My Name, Say My Name

I was talking to one of the besties last night about my name.  Not KK or my full name.  But what I go by to all of my kids.  My Godbabies and nieces and nephews.

I've not really thought much about it since Godson J was born.  I knew I would be Auntie KK to him.  When I was asked to be his Godmother, I thought it was funny to refer to myself as his Auntie Fairy Godmother KK.  But that certainly didn't stick.

But I didn't think much about the fact that my Butler Besties' Babies all call me Titi KK (pronounced TeeTee).  Butler Bestie Belle grew up calling her (Hispanic) aunt, Titi.  It's a common nickname for auntie and as I am from South Florida, it was a familiar term.  Somewhere along the way, the four of us knew we would always be Titis to each others children.

Bestie always thought this was funny but spelled it TT.  So I was TT KK.  I don't even know when or how but I can't think of the last time I referred to myself to her three boys as anything other than TT KK.

Well the bestie last night told me that where she lives, aunties are commonly called Tutu.  How cute is that?!

So let's review.  I go by my full name once in a blue moon or when talking to my father.  I go by KK 95% of the time.  I go by Auntie KK in Florida and NY.  I go by Titi KK in Indiana.  I go by TT KK in Georgia.  And apparently in a state-to-be-named-later, I go by Tutu KK.

I'm sure an identity crisis is in my near future.  But truth be told, I kind of love it!!  There' a lot of love wrapped up in those silly nicknames.

Those are cute. I am Ruthie, Ru or Ruth depending on which of the families I am with. I never had nicknames until college.
