Loving: Loafers

I've been a fan of loafers my entire life.

Even when they were the least cool shoe to wear.  I didn't care.  I rocked them.  Blissfully ignorant to what the cool kids were wearing.

Then in junior high school, they were a required part of the uniform.  Further endearing loafers to my heart.  They are timeless.  You can wear them with anything {within reason of course} {And never with leggings.  Because LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS.}, they are super comfortable and they look good both new and well worn in.  My college friends would mock me for rocking penny loafers, jeans {that I ironed...something I rarely do now...so see Belle, I've made progress!} and a college sweat shirt instead of just wearing sneakers like a normal kid.  Normal is so overrated anyway.

I own more pairs of loafers than any other style of shoe.  They are for sure my go to shoes {plus a few pairs of ballet flats} on a daily basis.  But that never stops me from looking at the next pair of loafers to love.

Did you grow up wearing loafers?  How do you feel about them as an adult?  Love or not feeling them?

I've bought them in the past, but never wore them so I stopped buying them. I am sure I will get a pair in the future and hopefully I give them a chace :)

I didn't start wearing them much until high school, now they are most of my shoe wardrobe.

It has been a few years since I was in high school but I still wear the Bass weejuns that I wore in high school with my uniform. They still look pretty good too.
I have a number of other loafers too. I have the mules that look like loafers as well. I have a great red patent from LL Bean and a pair of Black from Talbots.
I do not do heels very well for a number of reasons --husband is a few inches shorter than I to begin with. Also I must wear a compression stocking on my left leg , due to a DVT--blood clot-- and well sometimes the heels just don't work that well with the stocking.

Love the look of loafers, jeans and a button down. Classic.

I never wore loafers as a kid. At least I don't think so. I have no idea why. As an adult, I love them beyond words for two reasons: 1. I am lazy and highly value comfort; 2. They require no effort to slide on and are super comfy while still looking professional and snazzy.

I could never own too many! Much to my 6'4" boyfriend's disappointment, I've actually given up on heels just about all together and solely wear ballet flats and loafers.

I had a pair in middle school and after some rude teasing they found their way to the back of my closet. The following year I moved to a town with more preppy sensibilities and those loafers were worn every day until the soles had holes in them. Even today my closet more than a few loafers in it.

I have clear memories of my first pair of penny loafers. They were not acceptable foot attire at the middle school I went to at the time. It wasn't until I moved to a town with more preppy sensibilities that I was able to wear my loafers without being told they were my grandmothers shoes. Even today my closet has more than a few loafers in it.
