Falling For Fall

Fall is kind of a big deal up here.  Farms have all sorts of family-centered activities from petting zoos to pumpkin and apple picking to rides to games to mazes and of course, hot apple cider donuts.  They smell amazing but I was a good girl and resisted temptation to try the gluten full goodness that would later haunt me.

This farm was incredible!  So many activities from a little train ride, tractor rides, giant hamster wheel races for people, a pumpkin maze (photo below), a fort-like maze and a corn maze.  You could jump in a corn pit (which was so dusty but the kids seemed to love it), snack on tasty treats and they even had a big row of campfires going so people could bring picnics.  So it turns out that even though I have wanted to go to a corn maze for years, my first (and probably only) time certified that I had waaay overbuilt it in my head.  I got a little motion sick about half way through, making turn after turn. Getting lost was a little creepy.  It reminded me of Harry Potter, but without the wand flare trick to call for help.  I went with a girlfriend and her daughter and we were beyond thankful that some kids offered to help us.  But I tried it.

There were all sorts of animals to pet.  Baby chicks, momma chicks, goats, llamas, horses, sheep and this two week old baby calf.  It was adorable!  She kissed and then tried to gnaw on my knee.  Which was simultaneously adorable and gross.  But she was so sweet and soft and totally reminded me of a dog.

Happy fall, y'all!

We used to go to a place called the Big Apple. It was a working apple orchard that always had fresh pies, apple cider and other fall festive things. Fall in the Northeast is the best time of year.

Great pictures!! We have a farm that does the pumpkin patches and haunted mazes and hay rides.

One thing I miss most about living in the South are all the wonderful pumpkin patches and farms that crop up around this time. Tokyo simply doesn't do anything like this. Thank you for sharing!

A lovely October weekend to you and yours.

Warmly,

Elizabeth
